The abusive Irish model, who threw Steph around "like a rag-doll" during the nightmare assault in the early hours of March 10, came face-to-face with his ex while the court was taking a break from proceedings.

An eyewitness told Mirror Online how Jeremy cornered the mother of his child inside the court building and tried to scare her.

"As she walked out the court he veered towards her and made a screaming noise like 'rarrrr' to shock and scare her," said the onlooker.

The violent bully grinned after being convicted of assault

"It was witnessed by the whole team there and because he's six foot plus it did scare her."

It came after an emotional Stephanie told the court about her 18 months of hell at the hands of Jeremy, who laughed at her from the dock as she sobbed over his treatment of her.

Having to stop during her testimony to calm down and sip from a glass of water, Steph revealed how Jeremy had threatened to disfigure her with acid as part of a horrific threat to stop her leaving him.

When asked why she had retracted her initial police statement after the assault, Stephanie recalled how McConnell had given her the vile warning.

"That was Jeremy getting me to retract my statement; he also threatened to throw acid in my face," she told the court.

"I've been scared of Jeremy and that's the God's honest truth."

Stephanie had previously told Mirror Online about McConnell's disgusting remarks as part of his campaign of domestic abuse against her.

Back in June, when Jeremy went on a Twitter rant about how Stephanie was "dead to me", the 24-year-old actress told us that he'd made violent threats towards her just the day before.

"He threatened to throw acid in my face if I ever left him and he's said that a few times," she revealed.

Yesterday's court case laid bare the true depths of McConnell's behaviour towards Steph and painted a picture of a relationship rocked by his paranoia and drug abuse.

Among the bizarre claims that came up in court was McConnell's fervent belief that Stephanie had been having a lesbian affair with her pregnant friend - and that a moved vibrator was 'proof' that she'd been using it with the mate.

During the night of March 9 and into the early hours of the next day, McConnell accused her of sleeping with a firefighter who lived on her street and repeatedly threw her down onto her bed when she tried to leave.

He even assaulted her while she was holding their son Caben-Albi, at that point just eight weeks old, in her arms - and Stephanie was petrified that he was going to seriously injure the vulnerable infant.

"Every time I got up he got me by the face and threw me down forcefully," she told the court.

"All I was thinking is how do I get Caben away. He could have killed him."

She was only able to escape when her mum, roused by panicked calls and messages, arrived at around 4am.

McConnell denied the assault claims throughout the trial but the judge ruled against him.

He will now be sentenced on Friday 11 August and could face a spell in prison of up to six months, according to guidelines.
