Janelle Monae narrowly avoids nip slip in her embroidery extravagant gown

The 31-year-old Janelle Monáe Robinson, known as Janelle Monae was another celebrity in the night that wow on the red carpet.

Janelle stormed the 89th Academy Awards in voluminous skirt featured panels of intricate beading and embroidery, resulting in an exaggerated silhouette below the waist.

But, the upper part of her dress was where things really got interesting, as Janelle's vest was made from sheer mesh.

Just a handful of embellishments were all that separated Janelle from a nip slip on the red carpet – but unlike US actress Blanca Blanco, she managed to avoid any nudity.

The singer clearly doesn't believe in less is more, as she accessorised her busy dress with a gold hairband and several chunky rings – but she pulled it off.

Also killing it on the Oscars red carpet was Janelle's Hidden Figures co-star, boobylicious Taraji P Henson who transformed the Oscars award night to GLOBE Awards with her boobs...lol

The actress, who plays Katherine Johnson in the critically acclaimed drama, was the centre of attention both at the Dolby Theatre and on social media thanks to her eye-popping gown.

Taraji sported killer cleavage in a plunging velvet gown that hugged every gown, with many awarding her the best dressed title.

Giving her competition, however, was Best Actress nominee Emma Stone, who wowed in a vintage-inspired tasselled gown.

The intricate gold number was paired with a crimson lip and loose Hollywood waves in Emma's red hair.

Miss Stone is favourite to take home the Best Actress Oscar for her role as Mia in La La Land.
